McKenzie Rae's Crazy, Creepy, Sad but Fun World of Writing

Let me address the elephant in the room (if you haven’t noticed the elephant yet, then you were bound to see it very soon): I don’t know how to blog.

I’ve never understood blogging. Whenever I had a blog post assignment in school, those were always my worst homework grades. Was it supposed to be an essay? A diary entry? A short persuasive paper? What even are you, blog post assignments?! Multiple people have tried explaining blogging to me to no avail. It’s just some weird mental hurdle that I haven’t been able to hop over. But here I am, attempting to leap over the hurdle for the second time (that’s right--this is take two).

So, thank you to anyone who’s reading this, for joining me on a journey that I don’t understand yet! It might get weird and/or awkward, but we’re in this together now--you can’t back out now.

This blog might be a little all over the place in the beginning, because--as we’ve established--this is the equivalent of someone who doesn’t know how to swim throwing herself into the deep end of a pool, with a full grasp of the knowledge that she’ll probably drown in front of a bunch of spectators. Topics of this blog may include, but are not limited to: tales about life as an author, other people’s books, my own books, personal stories, TV shows, movies, scammy/weird DM’s that I get.

I might spend an entire blog post telling you about my spider babies--you never know!

Also, if you have questions about life as an author, feel free to ask me. I might have a satisfying answer for you. Or the answer could be bleak and depressing. Or I might not have an answer at all! But you’ll never know unless you ask.

I think that’s it for my first post. This was mainly just introductory/housekeeping/a warning of my own incompetence. I’m going to try to post every Friday so that I can talk about stuff that’s been going on during the week. Thanks for being here with me, everybody! I’ll see you all next week.
